Epic Euro Trip 2025

The Author Stands Over the Soča River

Here I am, back in NYC, reflecting on my recent annual moto pilgrimage to Europe and so I decided to give my writing muscles their annual stretch. So many things happened in a year!

If you read last year’s piece, I came back from my trip to live a bikeless life for the foreseeable future given my accident and its multi-dimensional aftermath. Happy to report, as of May this year I’m back to motorcycle ownership. Tariff scares, supply constraints and luckily my wife’s support all aligned and allowed me to replace my ’22 Hypermotard SP with…. drumroll… a ’24 Hypermotard SP! I could write a very long controversial piece as to why the Hypermotard is the best bike ever, some would agree, most wouldn’t. It’s a preference and I just can’t think of not having one, there are a bunch of other bikes I would love to add to the Hyper in the future though! Continue Reading >

CMC x 2wTj Event Recap

On a recent idyllic Saturday morning, the CMC crew joined forces with the folks at Fahrt for the Catskill Brewery edition of their 2wTj series. A few of us met up on the early side in Highmount for a group ride to the event. The weather was brisk, but not chilly and there was barely a cloud in the sky. We took a winding route through Frost Valley and ending up on Debruce Road, along the Willowemoc River before arriving at the brewery on Old Rt. 17. Along the way, there was plenty of excellent fall colored scenery. We rolled into Catskill Brewery shortly before noon, joining a small contingent of riders who were already on site. By 1:00 a really nice sized crowd of riders had gathered. We met some really cool people and generally had a great time. Our group scooted out shortly after 2 and took a long loop back toward CMC headquarters grabbing a snack at Ravenwood before swinging through Ashoken and Bearsville. Sadly, I did not grab any snaps of the post-brewery niceties. Anyway, here is a mega gallery from the morning ride, and brewery event. Enjoy!–

Epic European Alpine Adventure

Perfect Riding Conditions in Stelvio

I’m not a writer, far from it, but the esteemed editor in chief of this prestigious publication allowed me to submit my most recent adventure so thanks in advance for bearing with me here.

My father and I had been slowly reconnecting since my late teens after a pretty ugly divorce between my parents and the common ground for us happens to be machines, especially motorcycles. Last summer he and I rode an organized trip to the Balkans (Serbia – Bosnia – Croatia – Montenegro) and while we had some technical issues on that trip (maybe another article in the future if there’s demand?) the overall outcome was that we had a great adventure of riding stunningly beautiful, less traveled roads that wind through countries long ago dismissed by the west. To keep it interesting, we did all of this while battling the eccentricities of machines that were each north of 2 decades in age. Coming off that trip we agreed that we would do it again the following year. Continue Reading >
